Home changes..

So, I'm not a last minute person, but I'm not an over-achiever and have things done months before the arrival date.  I guess I do get a little energized by a deadline, unfortunately.

We are making Chris' study into the girls room.  I know it is sad for Chris to lose his study but we are making our bedroom, which is large, into a bedroom/study and we're decorating with bookshelves.  I love book; I just don't like dusting!  But, it will be good, we just have to be creative and get the right furniture.

IKEA has the answer to our problems, I think.  I'm going to first get our room converted to a study, move everything over.  We're also getting off-site storage, then we plan on having a big garage sale and sell the furniture that isn't working for us, and needed to have a sale for years now.  I have so much stuff to do!

Need to paint the girls room (was thinking of a buttercream yellow).  And for Anton's room, maybe take some of the baby stuff out.  He still has Beatrix Potter pictures, but he doesn't complain.  If I ask him how he wants to decorate it changes everyday (spiders, and Paris are the themes he likes, but for sure he wants to paint the walls blue...and I was thinking a dusty blue with a little hint of lavender in it)

I'm also trying a new homeschool curriculum called K12. It seems like it will work great for us, in that it will help me administer and do the lesson plans.  Why not have help?  I should be starting that this week.  I'll blog about that on another post.

Documents Done...now waiting for a Court Date

Yay!! we just got our FBI crime records (or lack thereof) back in the mail. Also, this week, we got our doctor's notes signed stating we don't have HIV. (I was so happy to find a new doc with notary in his office and very good doc as well)

These 2 documents are all we should need for our final dossier to the Bulgarian court. The judge could request more documents. If they do, we have 1 week to get those. But we anticipate that this is all we need.

These have to be authenticated and sent on to Bulgaria.

We do not have a court date yet. We could get a court date at any time, but Bulgaria for the most part closes down in August, but it still possible we could have a judge assigned to us who does not take vacation in August. But we are told not to expect a court before September. After the judge approves the adoption (and we don't have to be in court, there is someone to represent us), we will get a phone call that says they are ours, and we can get our girls about 30 days later. In short, we expect a travel date to get our girls in November, maybe October.

We are hoping to get approved for a Matching Grant through Lifesong for Orphans. We applied about a month ago, and it could take up to 10 weeks to approve.

For those not familiar with Lifesong, they are a group that if someone gives to them for a particular adoption, they can write off on taxes. They also have funds available for matching grant, and they do interest free loans. It is a very Christ honoring organization. If you are looking into adoption yourself, I highly recommend them. They are not an agency, just a vehicle to help with expenses.

Chris' sales have gone really well, we really see the Lord's hand in providing. It is amazing how we see that while we have a lot of work to do, He Provides.

Quick Trip to Hill Country

First of all, we got a new van!  Yes we did.  It is a white Honda Odyssey.  It has low mileage for used car and fully loaded.

Having the urge for a road trip, we decided to do several things:  1) sign a petition at the capital to stop late term abortions 2) see my grandmother, 3) have some fun.  There was a plea for help by some pro life groups so seemed like good time to go.  Chris had to work, so hated to leave without him but he thought it was a good idea to go.

this is down a level.  we wore blue to show support for Pro Life cause
We went to Austin, and got rained on.  Then to TBarM Camp and Resort.  Had a blast playing tennis, ping pong, basketball, air hockey, swam...what am I leaving out.  Bike riding.  Next time we have to go inner tubing down the river.

Then the next day we headed to San Antonio to see my grandmother.  Then on our way home.  It was fun but exhausting.
